Google Analytics

Went through some of the online training tools on Google Analytics (GA) provided by Google. Definately it was informative. GA is a tool which can be used by a company to understand their customers behavior in respect to their products.

Its quite interesting to see how data can be collected from every digital medium, then processed, configured and reported in a concise manner which proves to be a major help to companies in making their decisions. In any analytic tool, two types of data can be found: Metrics and Dimensions.

Dimensions are characteristics of your customers. Example: geographic location, source from where they entered the site or a link of page they view.

Metrics are quantitative data like all the figures and numbers. Number of users, number of page views or conversion rate (when customer makes a purchase).

These data types are always found in digital analytic tools.

And what others did....

Was fun to go through my classmates blogs (didn't read all of them to be honest) and find that many gained valuable experience during the co-op term.

Seems most were placed through our college career website www.placeprocanada.com like Sean who worked at LiveNation Canada as a marketing intern, Susanne at MetroLand Media and Vaibhav at Score Promotions. Lucky i say as i had to find one for myself outside placepro which was quite a daunting task.

My Internship

Had my co-op/internship from January to April which was part of my 1 year program at George Brown College (still no one knows why was it in between, even our co op officer couldn't answer when i asked about it). It being my first Canadian experience, I must say it was quite a learning experience.

Was working as a Social Media Intern where I got the opportunity to handle few websites the company owned and help them promote those through different medium and thereby increase traffic. the whole thing wasn't so lucrative or what i wanted but nevertheless it had its learning curves.
